Client Program Success

Client Project B

This City selected Interra Hydro to install and maintain their rapidly growing long-term monitoring network. As part of the ongoing service agreement, Interra Hydro conducts monthly field visits to each of the monitoring stations, populates a flow meter database, and archives all flow monitoring data. When issues arise at any meter location between regularly scheduled maintenance intervals, Interra Hydro delivers rapid response service to resolve site problems. Providing on-demand attention to the overall metering network has resulted in a significant reduction in meter down-time and data loss for the City.

Scope of Study

In 2002, Interra Hydro was chosen to join an elite project team. The City’s decision to incorporate Interra Hydro’s services in the study demonstrated a solid commitment to maintaining consistent, high-quality performance for their expanding permanent flow monitoring network. Equally committed to superior system performance, Interra Hydro continues to honor a comprehensive warranty on all monitoring stations they maintain.

During the first phase of the study, Interra Hydro was called on to rehabilitate/install and bring 24 pre-existing stations online to full operational status. This was accomplished using Interra Hydro’s custom stainless steel mounting hardware and in-pipe mounting bands designed for installation in pipe as large as 122 inches. Interra Hydro, working closely with the client's flow monitoring division, devised and implemented new installation methods and techniques specifically aimed at eliminating the costly (and frequent) occurrence of Area/Velocity sensor blowouts. The new approach applied in the installations completely eliminated sensor blowouts, radically increased station up-time, improved data reliability and accuracy, and has significantly increased equipment longevity at client stations.

During phase two of the City’s ongoing efforts to increase and maintain an effective and comprehensive long term flow monitoring network, Interra Hydro was responsible for installing 24 additional flow monitoring stations. With the progression of installations, each new monitoring station brought online has been rotated into the monthly service schedule, now totaling 48 long term sites.
